INFERNAL COMBUSTION: Acclaimed Parody Webzine Returns From Hiatus
August 8, 2002Infernal Combustion, the acclaimed parody heavy metal webzine, has returned from a six-month hiatus and launched its 25th batch of "slander, lies and mockery" upon the metalheads of the Internet.
Frequently referred to as "The Onion of metal," Infernal Combustion features satirical stories sending up both modern and classic metal bands, written in a straight-faced news style. Publishing since 1999 (although rarely on time),the webzine has skewered nearly every major player in the metal business, garnering a rabid cult following for its literate, hilarious approach.
Founded by metal journalist and PB ARMY vocalist Keith Bergman and film critic Mark Tinta, Infernal Combustion claims members of ANTHRAX and METALLICA among its fans, and records thousands of hits monthly even when there is no new issue to be seen. Bergman told fans in a mass email, "we should be more or less monthly from now on, but I wouldn't believe me either on that one..."
